The children enjoyed some quiet prayer and reflection time opportunities this week through four creative spaces. In each station, the children were welcomed by a volunteer from St Mary's Church and through playdough, sand, two bubble tubes and a large world map, the children were invited to respond in any way that they chose: space to think, draw, write a prayer or record their thoughts. A huge thank you to BeSpace Oxford for the very kind loan of all the resources and to Margaret and her team of volunteers who made this a special space for all the children.
Each class enjoyed a dance and drama workshop by West End in Schools Theatre Company to help them learn more about the occasion of a monarch's coronation in preparation for the crowning of King Charles 111. The children had the opportunity to learn something of the ceremony and what's involved through a sound and visuals presentation that took the children back through history to the Coronation of previous monarchs.
Class teachers enjoyed reading a selection of bedtime stories to their classes while the PTA provided hot chocolate and a biscuit for the children and light refreshments for the parents in the hall.
To mark the 70 years of the Queen's reign, each class took part in a dance workshop with music and iconic styles from each of decade of her reign. The children have also been looking at the art of their chosen period as well as learning about a significant figure from living history. They had great fun wearing some colourful outfits, bringing our learning this week to a wonderful conclusion.
