Jigsaw PSHE
This year we are using Jigsaw PSHE to support the delivery of our new PSHE curriculum. Jigsaw is a mindful and child-centred approach to PSHE and includes all the statutory requirements for Relationships, Sex and Health Education. It is an original and comprehensive scheme of learning which integrates personal, social, health and economic education with an emphasis on emotional literacy, mental health and SMSC (spiritual, moral, social and cultural) development. Jigsaw aims to help children know and value who they really are and how they relate to other people in this ever-changing world.

We are delighted to share these Jigsaw publications for your information:

RSE - Parent Consultation Response

As you are probably aware, The Department for Education announced changes to Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) following nationwide consultation for implementation during 2020-21. The full implementation of these changes was delayed as a result of Covid and following the latest lockdown, the DfE provided more flexibility around this, enabling schools to focus the remainder of this year’s Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) teaching on the immediate needs of pupils. Our revised PSHE programme will be introduced in September 2021 when all schools will be required to comply with the updated requirements.

Last term, the school consulted parents, staff and governors to help inform our decisions on when and how certain content is covered. This consultation enabled us to reach a general consensus on our RSE policy and our revised PSHE curriculum.

To help you understand the curriculum requirements further, please see the information below which provides more detail:

DfE guidance: Relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education

I like PSHE because I want to learn about our health and how to keep myself safe.

I like PSHE because it's about listening to other people, how they act and how people feel different things to me.

I love PSHE because it helps me to achieve my goal.

I enjoy PSHE because I like to learn about other people's differences.

I love PSHE because I get to talk about my feelings and emotions in a safe space. I like PSHE because it's important to hear about other people's opinions.
