The Archbishop of York Young Leaders' Award

A large group of Year 5s have embarked on a very exciting after school club with Margaret and Mrs Mason exploring what it means to be a Young Leader in our world today.
Week 2: In groups the children prepared a mine to reflect a particular skill associated with successful leadership. Then we read the Bible Story "The Good Samaritan". We considered what "love my neighbour as myself" might mean for us and who our "neighbour" is. We talked about our global neighbours and not just the people who live near us. We thought about times when we've helped someone in need and thought about how we can demonstrate being a good neighbour even to people we may never meet. We finished by choosing our first community task from Archie's Challenge to complete before our next meeting together.
