Holly Class have been investigating the properties of ice in their science lessons. The children designed their own experiments to find out the best way to melt an ice cube. They came up with some ideas of what we could add to the ice cubes to help them melt: salt, sand, hot water, cold water and sugar. The children also wanted to see if placing the ice cubes in different places would help them to melt faster, they tried: on the radiator, outside, in the window sill and one ice cube on the teacher desk with nothing added, as a control. The children made their predictions, adding a tick or a cross if they thought their ice cube would melt before lunch time. They carefully checked the ice every 30 minutes, observed and recorded their results. Fantastic science work Holly Class!
