Our own fossils<< Click to return to the previous page... Ash Class used clay and plaster of Paris to make our own fossils. We pressed shells into clay to create a mould which was what would happen once an animal died and was buried under layers of rock, but we didn’t have to wait millions of years to create our fossils. We mixed the powder with water using a ratio of 2:1 (maths gets into everything). The fossils were left for about half an hour to set then we removed the clay to reveal the fossils.
