Dear Parents and Carers
Home Learning from 1 June

We hope this letter finds you all safe and well.
As we begin the start of a new term we have some children in school two days a week, some attending Key Worker provision and the majority remaining at home for a while longer, we thought we would explain the format and role of home learning from this week.

Planning for phased reopening of school from 1 June.
As you will be aware, the Government has asked schools to plan for a phased reopening of schools from 1 June (at the earliest), prioritizing children of critical workers and those in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. I am now writing to you to explain North Leigh’s cautious and measured response to this.

Home Learning Update: I know that class teachers very much enjoyed catching up with you all again last week and we are all relieved to hear that children continue to stay safe and well.
We are also pleased that the overwhelming feedback was that you appreciate the ‘pick and mix’ style of home learning we are making available now and most found you could dip into activities as and when it was possible around your other responsibilities at home. There was also clearly an appetite for wider learning beyond the core subjects of English and maths.

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope this letter finds you and your family well.
I am writing to you in response to yesterday’s announcement by the Prime Minster which suggested that schools would be closed until at least June 1 and then would begin a phased re-opening for Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils. It is important you realise that, as yet, we have no further details from the Department for Education (DfE) on this.

Dear Parents and Carers

We hope this letter finds you and your loved ones safe and well and that you have managed to find some peace over Easter enjoying this lovely Spring weather.

Following the Government review and briefing yesterday, it is clear that statutory school closure will continue for at least the next three weeks. Though this will continue to present frustrations and challenges for us all, we are pleased to note that rates of infection appear to be plateauing and we look forward to better times ahead.

31 March 2020
Dear Parents and Carers

I can hardly believe that it is only just over a week since we closed school; such a lot seems to have changed for us all since then. I do hope that this letter finds you and your loved ones safe and well.

As you will appreciate, the move to close schools happened with very little notice, leaving staff with a limited amount of time to organize emergency arrangements for the care of children of key workers or put together home learning resources for all our other families. It now seems appropriate, as school will be closed for some considerable length of time, to establish more regular and systematic routines around home learning resources.

COVID19_advice for parents and carers

19 March 2020
Dear Parents and Carers

In the light of the national response to the coronavirus crisis, we now expect schools to be closed for the foreseeable future so recommend that your children engage in learning activities as part of a ‘usual routine’. Whilst this will not be the same as your children being in school, it will give structure to their day and allow them to keep recent learning fresh and stimulate interest in new learning.

Building a daily schedule for learning activity at home will help to make sure you regularly visit key areas of learning eg. maths, reading, writing, spelling but also ensure that children are getting time for exercise and creative activities involving art, music etc. Scheduling time outside and away from screens is also advisable.
