Maya pyramids
We designed and built scale models of the El Cotillo pyramid at Chichen Itza. We had to measure and cut really accurately to make our pyramids. Some of us found this very tricky. Our pyramids were made more robust by using paper hinges to join the faces rather than trying to fold the cardboard. There was no Sellotape used at all. The Maya people built these huge pyramids to put a temple on the top where they made sacrifices to their many gods. There were 91 steps on each side totalling 364 then the final step up onto the platform made a total of 365, to be the same as the number of days in a year. They were amazing builders and often looked to the skies for their inspiration.
